Background

Stockspiration is an exercise in color, creating panels for my digital portfolio. Incorporating a rainbow of colors from Material Design, photographs from Unsplash and Illustrator.

When I made my digital portfolio, I originally struggled with how I should organize everything. It’s obvious to me now that I have the answer, but for a long time it was unclear how I was going to organize my work, and broad ranging interest and experience, in a way that made sense.

The main problem I ran into, were smaller projects, individual posts, which represent more than my work and projects, but that are included in the  experiences I’ve gained.

The solution came into the form of, additionally assigning them into 9 topics, with overlap. By putting these nine categories into focus, and creating nine different identities, I hoped to convey my curiosity, creativity and passion for the work I do.

Color Excercize

The process of creating nine different identities for these categories, started with a color exercise. Before I decided which color would be suit the different categories, I created StockSpiration, as inspiration for future design.

Material Design Color

The first thing I did was select a rainbow of nine different colors from Material Colors, in the hope it would best ensure color correctness across different browsers and devices. And then worked creating nine banners.

The banners had to be diverse, yet not obviously connected to any of the different categories on their own. I tried to focus on each banner individually, to really immerse myself in a collection that felt fresh and cohesive.

Unsplash

For this project I wanted to use Unsplash, to incorperate the power of people, to be an example of something we can make together online.

I am well aware many of the photographers who upload their work to websites such as Unsplash are doing so to get their name out there, I hope this can somehow contribute to that.

Evolutions of Color

Currently I have plans to update the banners, and have collected some materials, but there’s simply no time. If you have suggestions, or you want your work to be features, please contact me, I would love to make this a collaboration.
